Colourful boots stood out for obvious reasons, you’ll either love or hate this footwear trend. Mostly ankle boots in colours such as pink, yellow, and even blue were spotted at the Nina Ricci show at Paris Fashion Week Spring 2020. If you want to take this trend to the extreme over the knee boots are a fashion forward choice, you’ll smash two top shoe trends in one! These trending shoes are a good look for the transition from Winter to Spring.

Chunky Trainers

Chunky Trainers have been trending shoes since 2018 and we strongly predict they will be here to stay for a little while yet. Due to the nature of fashion, each year has a different take on a trend. This year the Platform Trainer has evolved into simple neon sporty trainers, like the classic running shoes seen on Spring/ Summer 2020 Balenciaga and Gucci runways.

These trending shoes are so easy to get on board with. Most of us probably already own a pair of toe thong sandals but we’re not talking your pool side clobber! Think of the updated version of these sandals like posh flip flops, these kind of shoe trends give us all the 90s feels. We spotted these designers showcasing their strappy sandals: Givenchy, Marni, Hermes and Valentino to name but a few.

Flatforms

We were jumping for joy when we see flatform sandals were still top trending shoes, the fact that these platform sandals come back in fashion each year speaks for itself! The likes of Fendi and Gabriela Hurst showcased casual looks, whilst Giambattista Valli and Erdem created dressier styles with luxurious satin materials. We’re no fortune teller but we’ve got a feeling this footwear trend will be back next year.

Chained Up

Chain Detail Pumps

It was Spring that graced us with the presence of the chain detail shoe trend on the runway, these embellishments could most simply be described as anklet features ranging for big and bulky to dainty. This edgy footwear trend also known as ‘shoellery’ was seen on many shoe styles including strappy sandals and boots. The Gucci show saw models wearing pumps with chunky chain details and horse bits.

Tied Up

Lace Up Sandal Heels

Whether it’s gladiator sandals, flats or heels as long as part of the lace up shoes category then it’s a top shoe trend of 2020! All sorts of lace up sandal designs have been spotted on models across many Spring/ Summer runways including Valentino, JW Anderson, Salvatore Ferragamo, Isabel Marant. You can take this footwear trend as extreme as you like, models have even been seen with the laces tied up over trousers.

Loafers

Sling Back Block Heel Loafers

We said goodbye to your traditional ‘boring’ loafer shoes in S/S 2020 and hello to uplifted sling back loafers and block heel loafers in luxury materials. Some of the designers who showcased these trending shoes during Spring/ Summer shows included Prada, Louis Vuitton, Fendi and Tory Burch. We love this shoe trend as there’s a design for every season.

Mary Jane

Mary Jane Court Shoes

We see the comeback of the classic Mary Jane shoe on Spring/ Summer runways, this shoe trend saw a new take on shapes whilst incorporating interesting colours and materials. Check out designers such as Carolina Herrera who experimented with court heels in bright colours, and Marc Jacobs who had fun with textured materials to created the perfect trending shoes.

Over The Knee Boots

Floral Over The Knee Boots

There’s no doubt about it that Over the knee boots and Thigh High Boots are included in the fast-approaching winter top footwear trends. An array of shoe trends including floral, second skin, ruched and baggy slouch designs have been spotted. Tory Burch showcased Floral over the knee boots, whilst Rag & Bone ruched boots in the Fall/Winter 2020 show.

Chunky Welly Boots

Chunky Wellington Boots

The chunky boot is not something we are new to seeing on the top trending shoes list, so we were not shocked to see this style take the form of a chunky welly boot. We feel this style has had a much-needed update, designers such as Prada, Bottega Veneta, Versace and Valentino showcased this shoe trend. Is the chunky wellington boot a style you see yourself wearing this winter?
